Barrow St James

Location: Blake Street, Barrow in Furness
Description: St James is an excellent example of a Paley and Austin church - a grandiose building with perfect proportions and superb acoustics, a church designed for choral music. It is constructed of local brick with Yellowstone facings for windows and the spire. The building is 128ft long , 60ft side and 75ft high, from the nave floor to timbered roof apex. The spire rises to 150ft, exactly twice the height of the church itself. For more information see website. There is also a website devoted to the bells at St James see www.barrowbells.org.uk
