The Church, dedicated to St Mary was designed by George Dale Oliver in 1890. It is not the first Church on the site. A photograph of the previous church hangs in the vestry.
During the rebuilding of the church in 1890, a massive tomb slab of local sandstone was found beneath the floor at the point of division between the chancel and the nave. It bore the effigy of a Lady, early 14th Century and her puppy beside her pillow is thought to be Joanne, wife of William Dacre who sat in parliament 1299-1318.
In the bell tower are three bells, tow not in use, one of which is pre-reformation with the inscription ‘Ave Maria gracia plena.’
The East window was presented by John Scott
Key can be obtained from Mrs Smith, Cumrew Farm, next to the church.
There is a permanent children’s area at the front of the church
