| Description: |
The church is built of local stone and dates from the 12th or early 13th century and was dedicated to St. Patrick - the first recorded rector was Barnard (1214). Towards the end of the fourteenth century, according to tradition, the church fell into a ruinous condition, in which condition it remained for upwards of two hundred years, until in the latter part of the sixteenth century it was rebuilt and dedicated to St. Luke. The history states the church was also restored and to a large extent rebuilt in 1858. |
