| Description: |
St Mary's Church each year, offers a warm welcome to visitors from all over the world. The Revd John Aspinall Addison was responsible for building the first chapel of St Mary in 1848 following an increase in the population of Windermere as a result of the introduction of the railway in 1846. A beautifully produced History of St Mary's is available telling the story of how the congregation has grown and continues to offer a witness to the love of God in Windermere. It also describes how the building has been changed over the years and restored following a fire in 1988. |
