Ordained Ministry - Ministry

Overview

Those wishing to be considered for ordination go through a careful selection process, before full- or part-time training. The Diocesan Directors of Ordinands guide candidates through this. Not all clergy are full time. Not all clergy are paid by the Church: some clergy have paid employment or other sources of income and give time voluntarily to the Church: they are sometimes called Non-Stipendiary Ministers (NSMs).

Lancashire and Cumbria Training Partnership (LCTP) is our own Diocesan provider of training for clergy – there are other colleges and courses throughout the country. Clergy are expected to have in-service training called CME (Continuing Ministerial Education) which is divided into CME1-4 for those in the first four years of ordained ministry and CME.
