Spirituality

Overview

Spirituality is about contacting and enlarging the inner life, which all of us have within, and allowing the living flame of the inner presence of God to touch and permeate our daily activities. It can be nurtured through encountering the beauty of the landscape surrounding us, through reading, music, relaxation, silence and quiet days, or retreats, which are times set apart, often led by an experienced Spiritual Director. Rydal Hall near Windermere is such a place.

About Sr Ann-Marie

Sister Ann-Marie has worked as a Spiritual director for over 40 years, and has led retreats and quiet days during that time, and her MA is in Spirituality. Originally trained in the Jesuit tradition, delivering modern style retreats based on the Exercises, as a Franciscan over the years she has been more influenced by the teachings of St. Francis and St. Clare and has also been strongly influenced by the Patristic era and Monasticism, Celtic Spirituality and the insights of many Carmelite writers and the Begin movement. Now in Cumbria she is also hugely influenced by the stunning scenery of the area and has begun to explore ways that this can express the insights of the Spiritual journey in everyday life.
She wears two hats, as Spirituality Adviser for the Anglican Diocese of Carlisle and a member of a new Ecumenical Team of Spirituality Advisers for Cumbria, all appointed by their respective church leaders, they will begin their work in January of 2010.

Ecumenical Team of Spirituality Advisers

The Team is in the process of arranging the programme for 2010, and would be glad of any feedback about what would be useful to the various groups we hope to meet over the next five years.
We will officially launch our work in January 2010 when further information about the members of our team and what we hope to offer, will be available.
We intend to work on a three-fold plan:

Spiritual Direction

The Revd Sarah Lunn, part of the new Ecumenical Team of Spirituality Advisers for Cumbria, holds the list of Spiritual Directors; those seeking a Spiritual Director should be in touch with Sarah: 017683 61269  sarahlunn@care4free.net
