Praying for the appointment of a new Bishop

On November 12-14 the Appointment Secretaries of the Prime Minister and the Archbishops will be visiting the diocese. Several significant meetings and discussions will be held about the challenges and opportunities facing the diocese and about the gifts and qualities a new Bishop may need.

The Vacancy in See Committee in the diocese hopes the whole process can be surrounded and supported by prayer. A prayer has been prepared for use widely across the diocese. In addition, three services (one in each Archdeaconry) will give particular focus for these prayers during the visit of the Appointment Secretaries.

Services will be held on Wed. November 12th
- at 9.30am at St Bridget's, Moresby
- at 12.10pm at Holy Trinity Kendal
- at 12.30pm at Carlisle Cathedral

You are warmly invited to attend. Please pray for
- the members of the Vacancy in See committee and their work
- the Appointment Secretaries and their visit to the diocese
- the Public Hearing to be held at St Cuthbert's Carlisle on Wed Nov 12 at 7.30pm
- the meetings and discussions to be held on Nov 12 and 13th
- the whole process of discernment that God will call a true shepherd and to serve with us in this diocese.

Praying for a new Bishop and for the process of discernment which will lead to his appointment:

Dear God and Father,
call to serve among us as our Bishop
a true shepherd
a man of God,
a minister of Christ.

Equip us to be, with him,
a church that is joyful in worship
united in witness,
caring and loving
to the glory of your name;

we ask this
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
