Death of Bishop David Halsey

The death has been announced of the Rt Revd David Halsey, Bishop of Carlisle from 1972 to 1989.

Before coming to Carlisle, Bishop Halsey had been suffragan bishop of Tonbridge in the diocese of Rochester. Following retirement, Bishop Halsey had made his home on the Isle of Wight, although he had moved within the last month to Norwich.

A fuller appreciation of the life and ministry of Bishop Halsey will follow soon.  Bishop Halsey's family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.

There is to be a memorial service in Carlisle Cathedral on Sunday 12th July at 3pm.
