Strong line-up on faith issues at Keswick Book Festival

Words by the Water, the book festival that takes place at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, from March 5-14, has a strong line-up of speakers and sessions looking at issues of faith.




These include:

  • Diarmuid MacCulloch, whose BBC series on the history of Christianity won critical acclaim
  • Robin Oake, talking about forgiving the man who killed his son, serving police officer Stephen Oake
  • Steven Pinker and Rebecca Goldstein, looking at the question, Does God exist?
  • J M S Pearce on the contribution Quakers have made to medical science.

Michael Buerk will interview Chris Rogers about his book on going undercover with the Duchess of York to film abandoned children in Romanian and Turkish orphanages. Other sessions include Nick Page on Jesus's last week on earth, Peter Stanford on the holy sites of Britain, and Karen Armstrong on whether God has a future. New Catholic author, Claire Connor will also talk with award-winning children's author G P Taylor about their collaboration and resulting novel.
