Overview

Our buildings present both great opportunities and (often) substantial burdens.

Buildings Audit

In order to begin thinking about our buildings the Diocese of Carlisle, supported by English Heritage, commissioned the North of England Civic Trust to audit all our Churches.

Each Church has been given its own audit report and each Deanery the audit reports on all Churches in that Deanery.

Individual reports offer external opinions about each parish church and are therefore valuable even though they inevitably contain subjective elements, some of which may therefore be contested.  The Summary Report offers a valuable overview of the whole diocese, which will help to guide our future strategy.

The Summary Report is available for download here.
