The church of St Cuthbert, Kentmere, is listed Grade II (English Heritage Register reference 1336083, listed 30.10.1989). It stands in a splendid position on a prominent brow overlooking the valley floor to the south below and can be seen easily for every part of the parish.

St James's Church was built in 1865 when the earlier village church (St Margaret's) was considered too damp and small. St James's is perhaps best known for its beautiful East window, designed and built by William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones and feature
