Our small and simple church stands by the village green. The original stone building dates from the 13th century, and some of the building is still from this time. Most, though, is from a restoration undertaken in the 18th century, and internally in the late 19th century. We have 11* listed status.

There is evidence of several periods of re-building with the three bay north aisle arcade with C13th arches on re-built octagonal columns and incorporating earlier capitals (C12th ?), a late mediaeval exposed timber roof, C18th south wall and bow headed windows and early 19th Century entrance porch and vestry. The north door to the aisle has been blocked as has the priestÂ’s door to the chancel. There is a three light C18th east window and a two light C15th west window. Although the C19th vestry over the entrance lobby now encloses the west window care was taken to align and size the vestry window in order to allow the passage of light. There is a horizontal shadow line in the wall plaster over the chancel arch which suggests that the roof structure may have been under-drawn with a plaster ceiling at the time of the C18th re-build. The regular coursed red sandstone masonry with chamfered projecting quoins suggests an extensive re-build of the south walls of the Nave and chancel at the time of the 1718 works. The 1836 entrance with vestry over has a Tudor arched entrance door with fine oak doors and internal doors of similar style but finished in well executed wood graining. The wood graining finish has also been applied to the fitted cupboard in the vestry and is a good example of an increasingly rare style of finishing.
