Team Rector Benefice of Egremont with Bigrigg and the Parish of Haile

for the

Benefice of St Mary & St Michael, Egremont with St John, Bigrigg and the Parish of Haile

The Benefice consists of the town parish of Egremont  (8000 pop) and the adjacent country parish of Haile (600 pop) which bounds the Lake District National Park. Included within the Parish of Egremont is a daughter church at Bigrigg.

The Team Rector will have the opportunity to develop the role of the Benefice of Egremont within the emerging local mission community, part of the Carlisle Diocesan God for All ecumenical initiative.

To support the Team Rector in this work the Benefice is:-

·         Financially viable

·         Well integrated ecumenically with “Churches together”

·         Currently led by a half time stipendiary vicar and vibrant voluntary ministry team i.e. SSM & Readers

·         Actively supporting  many other activities led by the congregation and the local community

Ideal attributes of the new rector would be:-

·         Willingness to lead open, reflective Eucharistic worship in the modern Catholic tradition

·         Willingness to facilitate other events and services as required. E.g. Festivals and civic occasions.

·         To be proactive in reaching into the local community of schools and organisations

·         Enthusiasm to make God relevant to all of the people in or visiting the Benefice

·         To engage with those people not so familiar with the church’s rituals at life’s milestones

·         To mentor people into roles developing both the mission community and Benefice’s spiritual life
