The Parish of Stanwix has two churches, St. Michael’s and St. Mark’s, serving different communities in the north of Carlisle. We are an evangelical church, open to the work of the Holy Spirit and have a passion for sharing the Christian faith with all people in the parish and surrounding area.

We are looking for someone who is able to communicate and share their faith effectively with people of all ages across the community and is able to work with others, as well as inspire and motivate volunteers.

We have various community activities in the parish. These include Coffee Mornings, Messy Church, Thursday Tots, Youth Drop-In, Year 6 Quest Club and occasional student events. We have discipleship groups for tots to teens on a Sunday morning. We run a summer holiday club each year for children in the parish. There is a great team of volunteers in the churches to work alongside and to support.
The applicant would need to have a current enhanced DBS check. There would also be the expectation that the applicant would be a committed Christian and become part of the worshipping life of the church.

Key tasks include:

• To get alongside people and build relationships
• To help others in the church to connect with the wider community and for the wider community to connect with the church
• To be involved in a Community Needs analysis/audit
• Work alongside others in the church to find ways to draw in families and to encourage discipleship
• Work alongside other staff and volunteers in the church
• Further develop relationships with children & families who are already in contact with the Church through Sunday worship and weekday activities 
• Be involved in the worship life of the church. 
The successful candidate will:

• be a committed and enthusiastic Christian with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• be able to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds
•  be flexible in working with the ability to work alone and in teams
• help people to catch the vision for the church’s mission to Stanwix and Belah
•  be fully committed to the life of the Church.

The post is 20 hours per week with a need to regularly participate in Sunday morning worship and other activities during the week as required.

An Occupational Requirement exists for the post-holder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
