Support from the local churches

A summary of services taking place and open churches in the areas affected by the shootings.


- A prayer vigil will take place at Egremont Parish Church on Friday 4 June from 7pm to 10pm.

- Residents of Carlisle will have the opportunity to come together to pray for the people and communities of West Cumbria at a special prayer meeting on Friday 4 June from 7.30pm at Hebron Church, 98 Botchergate.

- A special outdoor service for the communities of Seascale and Gosforth will take place on Sunday 6 June at 2.30pm on the Green at Seascale (below the station and by the beach carpark).

- A service organised by the churches in Whitehaven will take place in St Nicholas' Church Garden, Whitehaven on Sunday 6 June at 6pm.

- A Book of Condolence has been opened in Gosforth Church, which is open daily from 9am to 7pm for prayer and reflection. A vigil took place there in the evening of 2 June.

- A civic memorial service will take place on Wednesday 9 June - more details to follow.

- County church leaders have asked for all churches in the affected areas to be open and, where possible, manned to allow people the opportunity to pray, talk to someone and light a candle.
