Joanna provides advice and support on safeguarding concerns where you are concerned that a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm, or you want to report abuse whether it is currently happening or happened some time ago. She has responsibility for ensuring that safeguarding action is taken within the diocese, supports victims & survivors and manages the DST.

The DST must be informed straight away of any safeguarding concerns involving a church officer. A church officer is anyone appointed/elected by, or on behalf of, the Church to a post or role whether they are ordained or lay, paid or unpaid. Joanna is also happy to answer questions, and provide advice, relating to safeguarding policies and procedures.

Joanna works full-time for the diocese and is available Monday to Friday.

Safeguarding Support & Engagement Officer (Diocese and Cathedral):

Yvette Ladds
Yvette supports our parishes regarding any Parish Safeguarding Dashboard, Safeguarding Hub, and DBS related enquiries. She provides advice and guidance to develop and implement safeguarding arrangements, good practice, policy, and training at a local level across the diocese and at Carlisle Cathedral. Yvette also delivers induction, engagement and networking opportunities for our Parish Safeguarding Officers.

Yvette works full-time for the diocese and is available Monday to Friday.
