Benefice of the Barony of Burgh

We are six parishes on the lovely southern shore of the Solway where we believe that there is great potential for the church to be a reinvigorated asset within our village communities. We long to grow God’s Kingdom here.

We are praying for a new priest with a heart for our Lord Jesus Christ, for the Gospel, and for Mission who:

• Takes a central theological position and is able to embrace a range of practice and traditions in growing congregations.
• Understands rural ministry, and who can help us to be sustainable spiritually, practically, and financially.
• Has welcoming policies on open baptism, and on marriage, and who is inclusive in relation to diversity.
• Is keen to offer pastoral and cultural support to families, children, and our schools.
• Will lead pastoral care, and its oversight.
• Can be a leader and guide in lay ministry, a core element in our Benefice Plan.
• Is willing to be visible and active in all aspects of community life.
• Will respect parish identities whilst working with interdenominational partners, becoming a gentle unifying force in our communities and congregations.

This is a full-time stipendiary post (£30,912)
