    Archbishop of York's Visit: In Pictures

    The Archbishop of York, the Most Rev Stephen Cottrell, joined the Bishop of Carlisle, the Rt Rev James Newcome, at the Appleby Horse Fair for the launch of a Gypsy Roma Traveller Friendly Churches initiative.

    They later toured other parts of the county, including calling in at Crosby Ravensworth CE Primary, the Junction 38 Truck Stop and Tebay Services on the M6 to explore its partnership with the mental health charity Growing Well, before a final stop at St Michael's church in Shap. 

    Archbishop Stephen and Bishop James commission two GRT chaplains - the Rev Andrew Burrell and the Rev Andrew Sterling.
    Then they officially launched the GRT Friendly Churches scheme.
    There was a trip by horse-drawn carriage to the Fair Hill site.
    And a chance to thank their driver.
    A tour of the site with Head Gypsy Billy Welch saw them catch up with Cumbria's Chief Constable Michelle Skeer.
    After the Horse Fair it was on to Crosby Ravensworth and a visit to the village's church St Lawrence's - the 'Cathedral of the Fells'.

    Headteachers from Crosby Ravensworth CE Primary and Morland CE Primary were on hand to welcome them.
    Before Archbishop Stephen gave a quick lesson on how to pay homage to the monarch.
    From there, it was time to travel to the Junction 38 Truck Stop on the M6 to meet staff.
    Before calling in at Tebay North Services to find out more about the partnership with mental health charity Growing Well, which uses horticultuire to support people.
    Then over to the south bound services to meet staff.
    And enjoy a chat with the owners of the Tebay Services.
    The day finished with a visit to St Michael's Shap.
