Ordinary people seeking together to follow and serve Jesus - in the community, and for the community. You are welcome to our services and other events. Do feel welcome to join us!

For Services and other events: We have decided to stop services in church buildings from 1st January 2021 for the time being due to the current upsurge in Covid-19. But we will seek to maintain an online service most weeks. Visit the 'Services and Events' page to learn about these, Friday morning prayers, downloadable services to print and other sources of help. You can also go to the East of Eden Community website for up to date local online resources and information. CLICK HERE

Churchwardens to contact on general matters are: Michael Watts (01768 898688) and Richard Bottom (01768 870708).  FOR ANY ENQUIRY, INCLUDING THOSE ABOUT BAPTISMS, WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS please also contact Rev. Katharine Butterfield 01768 898176. Email: kmbutterfield@btinternet.com  (Day off: Monday.)

St. Oswald's Church will be open for private prayer on Sundays from 10am. to 4pm.  Anyone wishing to gain access at other times will need to contact Ruth Lee on 01768 898604.

For Safeguarding: To ensure that we keep everyone safe, we have a Parish Safeguarding Officer, who does what is needed to keep children and vulnerable people safe. For St. Oswald's church this is: Kevin Turpin, telephone 07942 491114, email: kevinturpin61@hotmail.com  For more information see 'Safeguarding' on the menu list.

St Oswald's is in a group (or benefice) of 4 churches; the other churches in the group are: St Nicholas, Lazonby, All Saints', Renwick, and St Cuthbert's, Great Salkeld.

You can also visit the East of Eden mission community website which has information on several churches in our area, including our own, in a different format:  CLICK HERE

Sunday

  • Weekly nationwide, online service from the Church of England-click on 'More about this event' button

If you can't attend church locally, or see one of our local 'Zoom services', you can still watch an online service streamed from the Church of England. Each week they come from a different part of the country or have a different theme. Draw closer to God in company with people from across the UK.
The service is recorded so that you can choose when you want to watch it. You can also see previous services.

Every Sunday at 9 a.m. for 60 minutes

  • Sunday Worship from your own home - on paper - Sunday 7th. March 2021.

If you can't go to church you can still spend a special time with God each Sunday from our own home and in the knowledge that you will be doing this whilst others in the Parish and wider Mission Community will also be taking part.
Click on "View attachment" below.to download a local service plan developed by our own clergy team in the local East of Eden Mission Community for you to use at home.

  • Friday morning prayers weekly to bless our local area- now meeting on ‘Zoom’

Why not join in on Friday mornings to pray for the local community?
It is a positive way of praying - especially in the current Coronavirus situation.
At the moment we are meeting on ‘Zoom’ to pray together for our local community. If coming for the first time, or you have any other queries, contact Keith Speck: Tel: 01768 898257
    Email: keithspck1@googlemail.com
(Normally we try to meet as a small group, in Kirkoswald Methodist Chapel at this time of the year, but outside in the Manse garden in warmer weather.)
You can also pray from your home or your garden (great to hear the birds as well!), or find some other quiet spot nearby. Suggested prayers are attached as a PDF file upload - click on 'view attachment' below.

Every Friday at 9 a.m. for 30 minutes
