An old village Church - in the centre of our community and for our community. We have a reputation for offering a very friendly welcome to all.

We are an 'open church'. Our door is never locked. We also have a toilet and a small kitchenette where you will find tea/coffee/milk/sugar - please feel free to use the facilities.

There are services in  our church building most Sundays. If no services at Great Salkeld there will be one in a nearby church in our group-at Lazonby or Kirkoswald. Visit the 'Services and Events' page  of this website to see details of these, We also have Friday morning prayers of blessing for our community- in the churchyard in good weather, or on Zoom if raining: contact Peter Pickthall for details. The 'News and Notices' page also lists other events and resources.

For general enquiries, please contact Peter Pickthall, Churchwarden, as listed below.  If not available, or for general pastoral support  or queries about weddings baptisms or funerals please contact Rev. Katharine Butterfield on (01768) 898176. Email: kmbutterfield@btinternet.com. (Day off: Monday).

  • Friday morning prayers held weekly to bless our local community.

On Friday mornings, for just half an hour, we meet to pray God’s blessings on our local community. This starts at 9 a.m. and we are meeting together at St Cuthbert's Church, Great Salkeld -outside if possible but otherwise in the vestry. Contact Peter Pickthall for more details.
At present some are also choosing to pray individually in their own homes. All over the country similar groups are praying at the same time. This is a positive way of praying for the community.
