An old village Church - in the centre of our community and for our community. We have a reputation for offering a very friendly welcome to all.

We are an 'open church'. Our door is never locked, and the building is still open for private prayer. Please use hand sanitiser before and after using the church door, and observe social distancing if necessary.

For Services and other events: From July 1st. 2021, for a period of time, live services will be at Great Salkeld village hall whilst a new toilet and kitchenette are being installed by builders in the main church. If no services at Great Salkeld there will be one in a nearby church in our group-at Lazonby or Kirkoswald. Visit the 'Services and Events' page  of this website to see details of these, or a service to use at home on your own. We have no regular online services at present. We also have Friday morning prayers of blessing for our community- in the churchyard in good weather, or on Zoom if raining: contact Peter Pickthall for details.

For general enquiries, please contact Peter Pickthall, Churchwarden, as listed below.  If not available, or for general pastoral support  or queries about weddings baptisms or funerals please contact Rev. Katharine Butterfield on (01768) 898176. Email: kmbutterfield@btinternet.com. (Day off: Monday).

To give online to St. Cuthbert's Church, click on the ‘Give Here’ banner below. This will take you to a 'mygiving' donation page. For any queries on this, or to set up regular giving, please contact: Jack Downie: Telephone: 01768 898868.  Email: jack_downie@hotmail.com

We are also linked with other churches  in our East of Eden Mission Community grouping.  To find up to date information on local services, online services and other useful information you may also visit their website:  http://www.eastofedenmc.org.uk

Sunday

  • Weekly nationwide, online service from the Church of England-click on 'More about this event' button

If you can't attend church locally, or see one of our local 'Zoom services', you can still watch an online service streamed from the Church of England. Each week they come from a different part of the country or have a different theme. Draw closer to God in company with people from across the UK.
The service is recorded so that you can choose when you want to watch it. You can also see previous services.

  • Sunday Worship from your own home - on paper - discontinued at present.

Friday

  • Friday morning prayers held weekly to bless our local community- now meeting outside Church.

On Friday mornings, for just half an hour, we meet to pray God’s blessings on our local community. This starts at 9 a.m. and we are meeting together at St Cuthbert's Church, Great Salkeld -outside if possible but otherwise by Zoom if raining. Contact Peter Pickthall for the link, if needed.
At present some are also choosing to pray individually in their own homes. All over the country similar groups are praying at the same time. This is a positive way of praying for the community - especially in the current Coronavirus situation.
