Dr Simon Clift

Our occupational health doctor is Dr Simon Clift. Since joining the Specialist Register for Occupational Medicine in March 2012, Simont has gained a further 8 years’ experience as a Consultant in Occupational Medicine.

During this time, working for InterHealth and now with Thrive Worldwide, Simon has built up particular expertise in Clergy Health, providing specialist OH services to 20 Church of England Dioceses as well as to other denominations including The Methodist Church and United Reformed Church.

He is a member of his local Anglican Church in Southampton where he serves as Church Warden and is currently a lay representative for the Winchester Diocese on General Synod (2015-2020). During his time on Synod, Simon has served on the Clergy Wellbeing Working Group which was responsible for developing the Clergy Covenant for Clergy Care and Wellbeing which was proclaimed an Act of Synod in February 2020.

He is keen cyclist and runner and sings in a community choir.

Graham Fawcett

Working with us in the area of psychological services is Graham Fawcett, Director of Psychosocial Services.

Graham has 20 years’ service in Christian missions and humanitarian work with YWAM, World Vision, Tear Fund and MedAir.This includes service delivery in Africa and Eastern Europe, organisational stress management consultancy to a range of agencies with multiple associated field trips throughout Africa, Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe. His principal focus has always been staff care, prevention of difficulties and supporting people to flourish wherever they are. He has also served at Board level for multiple organisations and advocated at the UN in Geneva and New York.

He also has 20 years’ experience in the UK NHS including as Consultant Psychologist professional lead in the East End of London; lead for Pan London Veterans Psychology Services; Principal Psychologist in London Borough of Hackney adult mental health services and lead clinical champion for digital health care in East London.

He has been Director of Psychosocial Services in Thrive Worldwide since its inception in 2017.He has enjoyed developing services for people in multiple cultures and settings and also supporting a range of denominations in selection of clergy as well as responding to mental health issues.

He has authored several books and chapters on humanitarian worker mental health, lectured in refugee and staff mental health and even managed to snatch 90 seconds on the BBC to talk about staff care.

With his wife, Nanci, he attends St Mary’s C of E in Woburn where they enjoy good fellowship as well as helping out behind the scenes.

When not doing any of the above Graham enjoys reading, cooking fancy food, eating fancy food and learning about new things.

Thrive also offer Thrive Christian Medicals. This medical assessment is designed to support, encourage and advise a person who works in Christian ministry i.e. office holders and Diocesan employees about looking after their health and wellbeing. This medical provides people in Christian ministry with an overview of their ‘whole person’ health (physical, mental and spiritual) with an experienced Christian physician. The aim is to help them to look after their personal wellbeing, to be healthy in body mind and spirit, and to thrive in life and ministry.
